The thin man was a member of the eleventh pilgrimage to Terra Nova. The Phoenix Group forced him to carry a bomb, which exploded and killed him seconds after he walked through the portal.
Appearance[]
This person is a 5′ 11″ (1.80 m) tall, thin, white man. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes. During his only appearance on the show, he wore a coat over a gray shirt, dark pants and shoes.
Biography[]
In late fall of 2149, this man was sent to Terra Nova on the eleventh pilgrimage. At some point before his departure, the Phoenix Group forced him to put on a vest with a bomb strapped to it, then hide it under a coat.
The thin man shortly before his death
The man walked through the portal shortly after Kara. When he arrived, he was visibly distressed. He pleaded for help and revealed that he was carrying a bomb. Before anybody could help him, the bomb exploded, thus ending his life. The blast killed and wounded an unknown amount of people who were near him at the time (including Kara and Jim Shannon respectively). It also destroyed the original portal terminus; the portal then reopened closer to the colony, allowing the Phoenix Group to attack before Commander Taylor’s group of soldiers had a chance to return.
Notes and Trivia[]
- While some fans speculated that the man may have become a suicide bomber voluntarily, his plea for help implied that was not the case. A tweet from InsideTerraNova confirmed that the plea was meant to convey his involuntariness.
- In the closing credits of “Occupation/Resistance,” this character was listed as “Thin Man.” “Thin Man” was also the code name for a bomb that was being developed during the Manhattan Project.
