A dragonfly briefly appears in "Bylaw", perching on a cliff overlooking Terra Nova.
In "Vs.", it is revealed that the Sixers have been using a dragonfly as a sort of carrier pigeon, to relay information stored in a microchip from Terra Nova to their hideout. It was attracted by a particular frequency. It was injured by a soldier who was worried it would bite one of the children preparing for the Terra Nova Harvest Festival ceremony, but its broken wing as surgically repaired and it was used to attempt to find the Sixer mole. It erroneously led them to the Shannon residence because Taylor planted a sound device in their house.

It is implied that dragonflies are still alive in the 22nd century, since Malcolm mentions "modern dragonflies" in "Vs.".
